Jessica Lee Chu En
Co-Founder
Jessica is an award-winning Singaporean director and producer whose work spans premium documentaries, true crime, and cinematic branded storytelling. She is the co-founder of Beam Sea and has directed films for global brands including Bloomberg, Samsung, Hyundai, Asahi, UOB, and IC Markets.
Jessica produced Netflix’s first Korean true crime documentary series, The Raincoat Killer, which ranked in Korea’s Top 5, and served as supervising producer on Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee and Jessica Wongso - the first documentary to reach No. 1 on Netflix Indonesia and break into Netflix’s global Top 10 non-English films. Her other films include Secret Lives of Trees (CNA), nominated for the SILBERSALZ Science & Media Awards 2023, and a Women in History series (National Library Board of Singapore). Jessica also lectures in documentary filmmaking at the National University of Singapore.
Joe Evans
Co-Founder
Joe Evans is a Welsh documentary filmmaker and the co-founder of Beam Sea. He has created, directed and produced award-winning films and series for Netflix, HBO, National Geographic, Bloomberg, CNA, and Discovery. Joe is the creator-director of Netflix docuseries Midnight Asia: Eat • Dance • Dream, and won Best Direction (Non-Fiction - Taiwan) at the Asian Academy Creative Awards for HBO original The World Behind The Teenage Psychic.
Joe’s films often explore the intersection of culture, technology, and human ambition, blending immersive access, strong character narratives, and premium visual storytelling. His commercial portfolio features documentaries and branded content for Accenture, Changi Airport, FPT, Hyundai, IC Markets, Samsung, Singapore Airlines, Subaru and Taiwan Tourism.
Vanessa Heng
Production Manager
Vanessa is a Production Manager with over a decade of experience delivering premium documentaries and high-end commercial content for global brands including Samsung, Hyundai, Bosch, McDonald’s, Citibank, and Bloomberg.
Known for her expertise in managing complex productions across multiple territories, Vanessa has overseen projects ranging from commercials for the Singapore Tourism Board to documentaries such as Deciphering India with Anjan Sundaram and To Live for CNA, as well as music videos for Coldplay and Jin of BTS. She holds a degree in Creative Producing from Chapman University and is known for thriving in fast-paced, high-pressure environments that demand both precision and adaptability.
